Hollow Tide Is Best Played Slowly
Hollow Tide isn't built to be sprinted. I tried to beeline the story my first time and bounced off it, then came back and let myself wander, and it became one of my favorite mobile adventures.
The real content lives in the margins. Scattered notes and half-buried landmarks slowly explain what happened to these islands, and the game never forces that story on you. It just leaves it there to find.
My advice is to turn off the urge to clear objectives. Pick a direction that looks interesting and follow it. Some of my best moments came from chasing a distant silhouette with no quest marker attached.
Play with headphones and don't multitask. The atmosphere is the point, and it falls apart if you treat it like a checklist. Give it a quiet evening and it gives a lot back.
